Karlos Nasar wins a fourth straight European title

Bulgaria has a European champion once again. Karlos Nasar won his fourth straight title at the European Weightlifting Championships, finishing the competition in the 94 kg category with a 386 kg total.
Snatch
Nasar opened with a successful 170 kg snatch. On his second attempt the Olympic champion raised the weight to 176 kg, which he also made, finishing the lift with his best result.

On his third attempt Karlos went for 183 kg, which could have broken the world record in the snatch. The weight did not go up, however, and Nasar continued the competition with 176 kg.
Clean & jerk
Having secured the gold medal, Karlos turned his attention to a new record attempt. On his final attempt he called for 233 kg in the clean & jerk, a chance to break the world record. The attempt was unsuccessful, but it did not change the final result – Nasar once again stood at the top of Europe.
